How to choose the right LED tube?
Three criteria: base (diameter), tube length, color code
The transition from conventional to LED lighting is a wise choice for any professional application. In fact, it reduces energy consumption by at least 70%, as well as maintenance costs, while respecting the lighting standards in force - particularly as regards the lighting of indoor workplaces.
If it is easy to switch to lighting with LED tubes, some criteria are taken into account to choose the right tube for your situation, so follow the guide!
Bottom and diameter
The base corresponds to the end of the tube where two pins are visible. The tubes, most commonly used, come in 2 sizes:
· T5 tube with a diameter of 16mm - G5 base - 5mm gap between the two contact pins.
· T8 tube with a diameter of 26mm - G13 base - 13mm gap between the two contact pins.
Tube length
The most common tube lengths are:
· T5: 115cm and 145cm.
· T8: 59cm, 120cm and 150cm.
If for traditional fluorescent tubes, the length is related to the power, this is different for the LED tubes. Also, it is indicated on the LED tubes which "old power" these replace.

49W = 145cm tube
54W = 115cm
tube 80W = 145cm tube
|
18W = 60cm
tube 36W = 120cm
tube 58W = 150cm tube

For example, a 14-36W LED tube replaces a 36W TL tube. On our site Lampesdirect.fr, for more convenience, we indicate the power of replacement in the name of the products of the LED tubes.
Color code
The color of light on the LED tube is usually indicated by a color code. The most common color codes are:
· 827 = 2700 Kelvin - Very hot white.
· 830 = 3000 Kelvin - Warm white.
· 840 = 4000 Kelvin - Cool white.
· 865 = 6500 Kelvin - Daylight.
